Electric Hybrids from Michelin & Valeo
MUNICH, Germany — French automotive tier ones Valeo and Michelin have announced to bundle their forces in the development of electric drives and hybrid drives. The move includes the development of recharcheable elements in the power train as well as other technology segments relevant for reducing CO2 emission and improving the power efficiency.
According to the companies, besides electric drives and related controls the topics for the cooperation will embrace temperature management systems for batteries and engines, climate control, lighting, energy management across the entire electronic systems as well as tires.
The move is connected to a program recently announced by the French government to foster development of alternative drives systems for the automotive segment. In this context, Michelin will contribute its Active Wheel Technology as well as accompanying technologies.
The move aims at speeding up the development of electric cars and bringing them to a market breakthrough in France and in the world, the companies said in a joint press release.
