Rare 4-speed transmission. PS/PDB, cold AC, power windows, power sunroof. Low original miles (144,000 actual) with a clean car fax report. Fabulous rust free body, floors, trunk, etc. No sign of accident or rust repair. Paint appears to be original, with signs of some minor repairs to scratches and dings only. Always has been garaged. Floors and under carriage are rock solid. Chrome, trim, exhaust, suspension, window glass are all excellent. 4 excellent tires with correct spare tire all mounted on excellent correct alloy wheels. Comes with a jack and original tool kit as well as owners manual. Excellent tan MB tex interior with beautiful seat upholstery, carpets, door panels, etc. Pleasure to drive, shifts easily through the gears, performs and handles terrific. Great miles per gallon with fabulous 4-speed transmission that shifts so easy it is a pleasure to drive. 1983 is the last year of this great series. These 4-speed cars with low original miles and in excellent condition are sought after by people who demand performance, longevity, classic styling, and economy from their Mercedes-Benz diesels cars. These great cars seem to increase in value with time as more and more people world wide appreciate and understand them!

This Benz has just had a major service (2010) with new brake system including brake pads, calipers, rotors, and even master cylinder. Front end, suspension (new tie rod ends, etc), new AC system, clutch and transmission have all been serviced, and over $1,400 has been spent in April, 2010. Many new parts have been installed. Florida titled in family name. Was purchased from family who had owned it for many years. Manual/4 speed 240D’s are very difficult to find in good original condition and low original miles.

Not Indianapolis, not New York, not Las Vegas but Austin, Tex., will host the return of Formula One to the United States, the Formula One rights holder announced today.

After the Indianapolis deal ended in 2007, there have been many rumors about efforts to get Formula One back to the United States. Now it’s done, and the deal covers 2012 to 2021, according the statement by Formula One World Championship Limited, Formula One Administration Limited (together, the F1 Commercial Rights Holder) and Full Throttle Productions,  the promoter of the Formula One United States Grand Prix.

“We are extremely honored and proud to reach an agreement with the F1 Commercial Rights Holder,” said Tavo Hellmund, of Full Throttle Productions. “We have been diligently working together for several years to bring this great event to Austin, the state of Texas and back to the United States. All parties involved have a great amount of trust and confidence in each other and are committed to establishing the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix in Austin, Tex., as a prestigious global event.”

What is more interesting is that Bernie Ecclestone is also announcing that there will be a “world-class facility purpose-built” to host the event. With all the futuristic Hermann Tilke monolithic tracks cropping up around the world — in Bahrain, China, Malaysia, etc. — this must mean something special.
